Review: People Impact-IQEQ Programme for Kids

Confucius had it right. Isn’t that what our job as a parent is? Getting our kids ready to leave the nest and prepare them for a life out on their own? And I believe the sooner we start, the more beneficial it will be for our children.

 

I would love to share with you what I have observed and experienced recently when I was invited to bring our Lil’ S to People Impact.

 

 

 

People Impact is the market leader in providing intelligence training to children which focuses on enhancing various soft skills, such as communication, heightening self-esteem, leadership skills, money and time management, arithmetic and linguistic reasoning, creativity and critical thinking. In a nutshell, it’s about building life skills for success!

 

 

 

Many of us, parents here tend to skew towards IQ development for our kids, and in particularly zooming into academic excellence with the kind of competitiveness we have here. But, it’s definitely good to ponder upon what’s best for these little ones. What will make them happy and successful in their own right?

 

I am glad I agreed to the invitation. My Lil’ S loved the program. The day she went for the trial, they were focusing on the theme, TEAMWORK. Love it or not, we have to work with others even at the tender age of kindergarten. So teamwork does matter. Teamwork requires people to work with others towards a unified goal. For a team to work together effectively, it takes all members of the team to respect each other’s abilities and opinions.

 

 

 

People Impact’s IQEQ programme is specially designed to achieve the goal of instilling teamwork spirit in the kids.

 

 

 

Lil’ S enjoyed all the activities on that day. People Impact encourages learning through play and I could see that very obviously during the lesson. Kids were asked to think creatively using shapes. For instance, my Lil’ S was asked what her favourite shape was, and she picked a heart shape. Then the teacher got her to expand on that shape, how she could magically turn that simple heart shape into something else. So she started drawing even more hearts within the big heart and eventually made it into a beautiful heart-shaped window!

 

 

 

 

 Then they had to work in pairs, working on shapes to tell a story. They had to stand in front of the class to show and tell, before that, they had to discuss the ideas with their partners. Adorable! And these kids really had such great imagination.

 

 
Thereafter, they had to work in a bigger group for some ‘groceries’ shopping. My Lil’ S was appointed as the leader of the group and she had to make sure everyone in the team fulfilled their designated role well.

 

From my observation, I can tell the objectives of all these activities are to allow our children to move from more intrapersonal ways of thinking to interpersonal communications with others. It will help strengthen their social and emotional skills, develop their communication skills, and improve confidence. These will eventually become part of them and such great assets to have for them to stand out and become successful positive individuals.

It is a Trick your Eye Museum Day

Trick Eye Museum is not your usual museum. It is an extraordinary museum that comes to life with just your smart phones. No sophisticated technologies deployed, just the clever use of optical illusions that turn a 2-D painting into a 3-D image. I was so excited to be there with a girlfriend, Eve recently.

Check out the fun-filled pictures we took that night. Pictures were all taken with no flash, kudos to the amazing lightings in the museum. Somehow, the lightings made us look so good in the pictures. Now we shall let the pictures do the talking:-P

Hello all!

Oh baby! Don't do this to me!

Finally completed our journey in the Trick Eye Museum. Chilling out time....

Gave ourselves a well-deserved treat in McDonalds. Once inside the museum, we felt like kids all over again. Lots of wacky, muscles stretching, poses......... We felt so exhausted after the visit but it was so fun! Challenges after challenges......we overcame them and felt so proud of ourselves. It was truly an awesome night out.

Will I visit Trick Eye again? Definitely! There will new exhibits periodically and I excitedly look forward to that.

I strongly encourage a visit to Trick Eye Museum, as a choice over a mundane day out to the mall or to the movies. It is more interactive than your virtual games for sure. We need such personal interaction now especially in a world where we whatsapp more than indulging in real conversations.

Where DREAMS come ALIVE

I was brimming with excitement when I received the invitation from Alive Museum. 

Alive Museum is the original 3D visual illusion museum from South Korea. Spanning over 10,000sqft, it is the largest in Singapore. Decided to check it out on a weekday evening.
 

My first foray in a 3D museum wohoo! Alive Museum ensures that visitors have a great experience by providing all unique props needed for the picture to come Alive. All I brought was my trusty Samsung Galaxy S4.

So many celebrities kowtowing to me. I was feeling on top of the world. Do you spot Bruce Lee, Spiderman amongst the group? 

 

I was truly awe inspired by the Museum's interior. The paintings were all flat 2-D paintings. However, the pictures turned to 3D after taking it at the designated Photo Point with the Smart Phone. Alive Museum's in-house talented artists  make use of various painting techniques to make exhibits look alive from a certain perspective.

Preparing for my first appearance into the SEA Games 2015:-P

 

 I love this shot! It was the toughest for me!  I had to pretend to be sitting on the bench and patting the giraffe in my most relaxed self and smile......

It was a fun-filled evening, trying out the different poses, somehow got a bit high from all these. I felt like I was back to my teenage days. Apparently 30% of their paintings will be changed every 12-18 months. Special exhibits will be displayed during Christmas and Chinese New Year. I will definitely be back on a regular basis. It is really a refreshing place for a date (especially for us who are married for a decade), a first date will be good too.....with the kiddos....the list is endless. It is a place for everyone!
